Abraham le Roux

Abraham le Roux was born in 1964 in Kimberley.  He qualified as a psychologist at the University of Stellenbosch as well as receiving formal training as an artist at the Cape Technikon. He managed to achieve a large body of highly sought-after ceramic sculptures depicting famous South Africans and his favourite subjects, the children of the townships.  Abraham is the author of a highly acclaimed children`s book, entitled The Magic Ring, in which he has used photographs of his ceramic sculptures as illustrations.  He has been involved in various solo and group exhibitions, in South Africa and overseas and his work can be found in private collections in England, USA, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany and Italy.As a very busy practicing psychologist, Abraham had only his rare spare moments to further his interest in glass art. In 2006 Abraham started to work in the glass studio of the well known glass artist, Nelius Britz, and since then his expertise in glass techniques has escalated and he can be considered an important glass artist in South Africa. He collaborates on several architectural glass installations with Nelius.
In 2008 Abraham had his first solo glass exhibition at the EDGE Glass Gallery, attached to the Cape Glass Studio.
